How to choose the Perfect Kitchen

It may come as no surprise that your kitchen is the most utilised room in your home and so it makes a lot of sense when having a new kitchen designed to ensure that your design represents the best use of materials and appliances not to mention that the layout should be carefully considered well before the installation stage.

Choosing a kitchen designer or team in the Glasgow or Hamilton area to carry out your design task may be a little confusing for some as there appear to be many out there, but which one is competent enough for your specific requirements?

A top class Kitchen Design and installation business requires a team of experienced craftsmen and at least one qualified designer who had at least 4 years of field experience and ideally more.

One company worth mentioning who fit this bill perfectly is Dynamic Home Improvements based in Hamilton Kitchen who have just celebrated 30 years in this industry.

As practically each kitchen layout and customer product choices are unique many challenges and different concepts need to be overcome by the kitchen designer as well as offering the client the latest innovative products to ensure that the kitchen is as functional and up to date as possible therefore it’s vitally important to have a design team with as much experience as possible.

A kitchen designer must possess a wealth of product knowledge and continually research and learn all about the latest trends and materials available such as worktops sink designs, taps and lighting options. The kitchen industry is a fast moving and ever evolving market place and so the designer must always be up to speed.

The kitchen company must be able to offer you a completely free of charge CAD of your new kitchen so that you can view it before you decide to buy. You should also be able to openly discuss any possible changes to layout, units and colours at this stage too.

But all of this would be a waste of time if the company did not employ highly competent tradesmen, highly skilled in Kitchen Design and Installation Specialists. Once again it’s worthwhile asking if the installers who will be fitting your kitchen are actually employed or sub-contracted by your chosen company. This is quite important to ensure consistency of quality since many kitchen design companies simply find fitters whom they may not have worked with previously. This is a gamble that can cause a lot of issues that you’d really want to avoid.

And lastly of course it’s very important to check out the company’s reviews before opting in.

Glasgow Bathroom Tenement Designs

When considering your Glasgow Bathroom & Kitchen Design options if you live in the area there may be some interesting facts worth considering in this article especially if your new bathroom project happens to be in a tenement building. Tenements are indeed beautiful old properties however due to their original design and 130 year old age there are certain issues that may impact your final Bathroom Design.

One very important aspect to consider is the straightness of the walls if you are thinking about tiling. There are two methods used by tilers. One method is to screed the wall to be tiled 100% with tile adhesive and simply lay the tiles on top. This method is fine only if the walls are completely straight otherwise your tiles will naturally follow the contours of the wall itself.

If you have chosen small “Metro” tiles in your Glasgow tenement bathroom and the walls haven’t been plastered (or plaster boarded) straight then the finish will be uneven and not look good. Metro tiles can only be fixed to even walls and because these tiles are so small and thin the tiler cannot fix the tiles using the second method which is to apply dabs of adhesive to each tile and set each one using a spirit level.

In short, it’s a far better idea to utilise large tiles on large, uneven walls unless you are prepared to pay to have the walls straightened beforehand. Please also take into consideration that using plaster boards to level out your walls will decrease the dimensions of your room by approximately 17mm per wall which may be significant since many tenements are often only around 1200mm wide in the first place.

One other thing to think about is how to go about installing a shower enclosure or bath and screen in such a narrow space. Recently a new solution has been specifically developed for Glasgow bathrooms in tenement buildings which uses a specially designed bath screen to allow the user to shower without water escaping. This revolutionary bath screen also conveniently folds flat to the wall when not in use.
